A lot of griping and sniping about Saturday’s FA Cup final, but to be honest it made a refreshing change not to have one of the Big Four involved and a big day out for some genuine fans. Let’s face it, If you support Portsmouth or Cardiff, you’ve never been a glory hunter.
A valiant effort from the bluebirds and with a bit of fortune they might have squeezed an equaliser, but few discerning pundits will begrudge ‘flash’ Harry Redknapp his first major domestic honour.
Dogged by allegations of impropriety and occasional dodgy dealings, Harry nevertheless has to be pound for pound one of the best modern managers in the game, transforming every club he’s taken charge of and making them punch well above their weight. Finally he has his just desserts, so hail to the Harry we say.
The final also saw a domestic swan song for the BBC Sports team as Gal, the two Als and Motty will disappear from our screens for a while as ITV take over domestic duties. There’s the Euros to come of course, but truth is, just like the government, it was all starting to get a bit stale. However it's never wise to slag someone off before you consider the alternatives...
